Movie Releases On Hold Due To Corona

COVID 19 has had a drastic effect on all types of industries equally and the entertainment industry is no exception. The Film Industry is also adversely affected and many film releases have been postponed indefinitely. Theatres are shut down and the release dates of many big-budget movies are still an unanswerable question.

All the film industries of the country have gone into a state of hibernation in the wake of this dreadful pandemic.

This situation is an unexpected blow to all the movie buffs and also the actors, directors, and producers who have made large investments into big-budget movies.

Let’s take a look at a few of the big-budget movies of our favorite stars which were supposed to have huge big screen releases but were put on an uncertain hold owing to the hazardous effect of COVID 19.

V – The Movie

Starring “Natural Star” Nani, Sudheer Babu, Nivetha Thomas, Aditi Rao Hydari is one of the most awaited movies for the Telugu Audience. Produced by Dil Raju and directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti, this movie created a lot of pre-release buzzes owing to the unique characterization of Nani’s character in the movie. The teaser and the trailer were well received and the audience was eagerly waiting to witness the magical performances of their favorite actors on the big screen. But, this movie fell victim to the COVID 19 pandemic and the release date is undecided until any further notice from the cast and crew.


Starring the “Lady Superstar Of Tollywood”, Anushka Shetty, R Madhavan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali, and many known actors in pivotal roles, this movie is a thriller directed by Hemant Madhukar. Anushka plays a mute artist in the movie which is quite different from her previous roles. This movie also marked the comeback of Anushka to the big screen after Bhaagamathie. It is also quite special as Anushka completes almost 15 years in the film industry with this movie. The teaser and trailer were duly released to honor her achievements. But, the grand release has been halted given the current situation and there is no clarity about the release date as of now.


Marks the comeback of Rana Daggubati, the Bhallaladeva, to the big screen after the most esteemed project of our country, Baahubali. Filmed simultaneously in Hindi as “Haathi Mere Saathi”, “Kaadan” in Tamil, this movie looks like a desi adaption of “the Jungle Book”, where Rana plays a jungle man who lives with elephants. The teaser created quite a hype and the audiences of every language were eagerly waiting to experience the unique performance of Rana in a completely different role, but the wait has been prolonged due to the pandemic. Supposed to release in April, it has been indefinitely postponed with no new release date.
Most waited for Magnum opus and Sports Drama of Bollywood, 83 is a real-life story based on India winning its first-ever World Cup in the history of cricket. Based on the life story of then Winning Capitan Kapil Dev and his team’s dream journey to winning the prestigious World Cup, this movie stars the “Dream Couple Of Bollywood”, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone along with many other beautiful actors in pivotal roles. Directed by Kabir Khan, Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, and Deepika Padukone, this movie marks the comeback of Ranveer and Deepika as a screen couple after their wedding in 2018. With all the right things in this movie to get excited about, this big-budget movie actually scheduled to release on April 10 has been indecisively postponed.


Highlighting the reunion of one of the hit onscreen pairs of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, and Katrina Kaif, this action-based cop drama is directed by the firebrand director Rohit Shetty. Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Rohit Shetty this is another upcoming masterpiece helmed by Rohit Shetty in his cop universe after Singham and Simmba. This movie also stars Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgan in cameo roles as Simbaa and Singham respectively. Celebrating a wonderful star cast, this commercial movie’s big release has also been postponed due to COVID 19.
Owing to the current situation, the magic of these wonderful movies on the big screen cannot be witnessed any time soon!!!
