COVID VACCINE UPDATE: DRDO (Defence Research And Development Organization), is gearing up for another milestone. The anti-Covid drug which was in news a few days back is going to be released in the market today. The drug 2-Deoxy-D-glucose manufactured by DRDO is set to be launched in the market by Defence Minister, Rajnath Sigh. The office of Sri Rajnath Singh tweeted that the launch of the medicine would happen through a video conference at 10:30 a.m. on Monday i.e., 17th May 2021.
The first batch would be consisting of 10, 000 doses and it would be administered to the Covid affected patients.
DRDO, in its statement said, “The workers have been working overtime to increase the production of the anti Covid drug, so that the market reach would be maximum. The drug has been developed by a team of DRDO scientists, including Dr Anant Narayan Bhatt.”
The drug is being produced by Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, a lab of DRDO in collaboration with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad.
This anti Covid drug is said to have high success rate in Covid infected patients and many phases of clinical trials have been conducted to ascertain the effeciency.
Following the Prime Minister’s call to be prepared for the pandemic in early 2020, DRDO had taken up this initiative of developing the anti-Covid drug which is easy to manufacture and is also highly effective.
This drug works wonders even for those who are above 60 years of age, and it also decreases the oxygen dependence.
This will help in lessening the hospitalisation rate in the infected patients and increases their chances of recovery.
The mechanism of operation of the drug boosts the recovery rate in the patients and may act as a tool to fight the ongoing dreadful second wave in India.
India, from the past few months has been battling the deadly second wave of Covid 19 which has been claiming many precious lives following a high rise in the cases as well as the mortality rate.
This anti Covid drug may be a boon in such a situation and may help in making the situation of the country more better.
